Thomas Johnston Director of Tennis, USPTA

Thomas Johnston
Director of Tennis, USPTA

Thomas is a three-time collegiate All-American and former head mens' tennis coach at the University of Virginia. At UVA Johnston established himself as one of the most innovative and successful coaches in the country. In 1997, UVA qualified for the national team tournament for the first time in the school's history. In another first, Thomas led his team to the finals of the 1998 ACC championships and NCAA Regional Championships. Under his leadership, the team's NCAA national ranking improved from No. 95 to No. 15. Upon graduating, several of Johnston's students went on to achieve world rankings.

Before joining Sea Colony as the tennis director, Johnston headed an award-winning tennis program at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia for 10 years. Under Johnston's guidance, Tennis Resorts Online.com consistently rated Wintergreen as one of the top 15 tennis resorts and top five adult tennis camps in the world. Wintergreen also achieved TRO's No. 2 ranking for tennis instruction in 2009. In addition, Wintergreen is a perennially top-ranked resort according to Tennis Magazine.

A respected speaker offering seminars on the mental and strategic aspects of tennis, Johnston has also published numerous sports-related articles. With a master's degree in sports psychology, Johnston is pursuing a doctorate in sports psychology.

Thomas has two children, Robert Alexander, and Julianna Marie, ages 8 and 5. His wife Maureen, has taught college English for the past 8 years

Pete is a familiar face at Sea Colony Tennis. Assistant Director of Tennis for 23 years, Pete began playing at the young age of 5 and went on to play at the University of Tampa. He is always well informed of the changes in the constantly evolving sport and the importance of maintaining a high degree of physical fitness and sound nutrition needed to compete in this very demanding sport. When not playing tennis, you will find Pete pursing his second love, music.

 

Alex Justiniani
Sea Colony Tennis Pro 
Alex trained at Van der Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He then competed in ITF and Futures Circuit in the United States, Mexico and Europe. He was ranked among the Top 100 Junior Players in Mexico and competed at the Sectional, State, and National level in both singles and doubles.

Alex is PTR certified, and has achieved certifications in Cardio Tennis and Wheelchair Tennis. He was Tennis Director at Plantations Tennis Club in Lewes, Del., and Head Pro at Peninsula Golf and Country Club in Millsboro, Del.

Alex loves competition, basketball, and family time with his wife Kyla and three children Tyler, Alia and Alejandro.

   
   
Ryan Kent
Tennis Professional

Ryan began playing tennis at Sea Colony when he was five. He has been on the courts for 14 years. A sophomore at the University of Delaware, Ryan is ranked No. 39 in ITA doubles and No. 18 in Mid-Atlantic Boys’ 18s. He is majoring in Management Information Systems and plans a career in computer sales.
 
Ryan has been teaching professionally for three years, and has worked at Sea Colony for five years. He also enjoys basketball, football and fishing. His parents also are tennis enthusiasts; his father chairs the tennis committee and his mother assists with special events and is actively involved with the Tennis Center.
 
   
 

Lou Menago
Tennis Professional, PTR

After being sidelined by a knee injury while attending Penn State University, Lou began teaching tennis at Toftrees Resort in State College, Pa. in the 1970s. Since then, he taught tennis at Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica; Brandywine Racket Club in Glen Mills, Pa., DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del., Bellevue Tennis Center in Wilmington, Del., Hockessin Indoor Tennis in Hockessin, Del., and Tennis Addiction in Exton, Pa.

Lou is a Certified Professional Tennis Association Professional. In 2000, he underwent double knee replacement surgery and in 2007, won the Delaware State Senior Classic 55s singles, and the Delaware State Super Senior 55s singles. The same year, he was ranked No. 151 nationally and No. 8 in Middle States.

Lou describes his most memorable moment as occurring in the 1980s while vacationing in Nevele Resort, Catskills, N.Y., when Arthur Ashe asked him to help teach a clinic.

In January 2010, Anthony DeCecco, Jr., of Tennis Addiction, trained Lou in the “Spanish way of teaching” tennis instruction, which he has been using ever since with overwhelming results with age groups ranging from 4 to 75.
 

   
 

Chris Baxter
Tennis Professional, PTR
                                                                                                                                    As a former Head Tennis Coach at Mississippi State University (school year record of 25 wins and 2 losses), Chris is certified as a highly rated USPTA Tennis Teaching Professional. He teaches tennis with a passion, believing that playing tennis should be fun and that improvement comes when students understand the learning process.

Chris was ranked in the top 100 in U.S. as a junior tennis player and attended Georgia Institute of Technology on a full tennis scholarship.

While teaching professionally, Chris won Association of Tennis Professionals Doubles Points. Currently, he works as a tennis teaching professional during the summer and as a Certified Public Accountant the rest of the year. He enjoys teaching tennis and has taught many college players including John Ross (ranked top 100 World Men’s APT Singles player), and Shaun Stafford (former NCAA Women’s Singles Champion).
 

   
 

Rocco Dambro
Stringer, Tennis Professional                                                                                                                            Rocco is a senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Business Finance. He is ranked among the Top 10 in Middle States, and is on the Dean’s list at school. He has worked at the Sea Colony Tennis Center for the past six years, and has been playing tennis since the age of 6. Rocco and his family have owned at Sea Colony for ten years.

Rocco learned to string rackets through necessity, and really enjoys the challenge of renewing a racket to its former greatness.

Once he graduates from college, Rocco wants to become a successful entrepreneur, own a car dealership, travel the world, and retire in Italy.
